Joseph B. Stephenson
born in England in 1874, had an inquisitive mind, and experienced many
unusual events in his childhood. At
age 5 Joseph healed his own father of sciatica.
He knew from a very early age that his life would someday be
devoted to Creative Healing. At
age 49, after many years of working on friends and neighbors in his spare
time, he began his practice full time from his large 3-story home in
Johnstown, Pennsylvania. His work with Creative Healing came very
naturally to him, as though he had always known how.
According to records kept by his wife, he treated as many as 60
people a day.
From 1922 –1944
Mr. Stephenson made his livelihood working on the sick and hurting.
He was the first to receive license for Massage Therapy in the state of
Pennsylvania. Mr. Stepehnson retired in 1944 at age 70 to Long Beach California where he found the
students to whom he would teach his work.
Stephenson predicted before he died in 1956 that his method would
not be widely accepted for 50 years.
The
"creative" part of Creative Healing is the powerful image in the
mind of the practitioner that their hands intend to create changes or
remove blocks within the body that allows the body to heal itself
using the four principals.
